“Leaving a mark on history”
The Scottish Stonemasons Marks Research Project.
Investigating the masons’ marks of the stone buildings of Scotland.
Following on from the research undertaken between 2015 and 2019, in which many ACFA members participated, the next stage of the search for Scottish masons’ marks is soon to be launched.
Some more detailed analysis will be carried out on the marks already identified, plus surveying of new sites, with an emphasis on encouraging historical and archaeological societies and the wider public to engage with their local historic buildings.
